Cowboy Kiwi Journalism with an Insidious Agenda - Part 3
Part 3: Insidious agenda - NZ media inciting Hindumisia
Catch up
on Part 1: Blatant misconduct by a media house and their representatives
Catch up
on Part 2: The church, media, and anti-cult organisation nexus
You may
never have heard of Hindumisia if like me, you’ve been rather ignorant about
these things…Hindumisia is hatred towards Hindus and Hinduism.
While its
taboo to write Islamophobic articles, Stuff and other media houses across the
globe give themselves the green light to push the narrative to incite
Hindumisia. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know what it is because so long as
they play on your ignorance about Hinduism it plants seeds of doubt in you
about those that follow this path.
Naturally,
the narrative in this article comes from a Christian agenda as well as one of
revenge by narcissistic ex-participants in a spiritual organisation called
Kosmic Fusion (as illustrated in the former parts of this blog series). The
Christian organisations cultwatch and cults.co.nz both were the experts on
labelling Kosmic Fusion as a cult and attacking its Founders and their belief
systems who are Hindu. Hinduism is polytheistic which means it offer the choice
to follow deities that you are drawn to, whereas as most would know Christian
doctrine is based on monotheism; there is only one form of God. Polytheism is
what these types of Christian organisations abhor, so they deliberately join
hands with the media, who collectively have signed up to this agenda of Hindu
bashing.
It’s
important for me to mention a little context here. When India was colonised by
the British (in cahoots with the Christian church) they shamelessly renamed the
country as India, when its name since time immemorial was Bharat. They created
a religious terminology of Hindu and Hinduism as a form of reductionism and to ‘reform’
the identity of the indigenous peoples of Bharat. The real term for people who
believe and worship in deities that predate any man-made religion by eons,
including Christianity, is Sanatana Dharmis. Who has the gall and gumption to
commit such an atrocity as to rename a country’s central faith?! Did Sanatana
Dharmis then take revenge and rename Christianity? Of course not. Yet, it’s sad
that this driver still exists among some Christian groups and individuals.
Of course,
the trigger was pulled by the media by publishing this Hindumisia inciting
article. Again, this is nothing new as these narratives have been in plain
sight over centuries, yet nothing is done to address them, to call them out and
tell them to cease and desist. Unlike with Islamophobia…what hypocrisy is it
not?
A few glaring examples of Hindumisia in the article
At the outset of the article the Hindu-hate, blasphemy, and disrespect of other peoples’ belief systems is abundantly clear. The two Stuff presstiutes Steve Gilgallon and Tony Wall had the audacity to take the photos of the Founders’ Deities they worship and write “Bad Vibrations” on the images. If that is not hate speech, then what is?! Have you ever seen journalists deface Jesus Christ?
They further
enhanced their strong reporting bias through other imagery. For instance, they
did a professional photo shoot of Iphigenia and Joy whereas no professional
photography was offered to the Founders.
There was
also high production on the article with elaborate animations of incense and
videos, all curated to draw your attention. Why spend so much time and resource
on the look of an article and not do your due diligence on the source and
background? In this case its obvious Stuff is literally using smoke and
mirrors! Quite simply, all style, and no real substance.
Also, Hinduism/Sanatana
Dharma is not widely understood in New Zealand, so how would readers know if
the information presented in the article is true? This is exactly what they are
playing on, in the absence of understanding by the reader, anything can be
portrayed by the media as truth…
In
summary, the Stuff journalists tried to make the article look like a balanced
one but the elements of sophistry, lack of thorough investigation, a
predetermined narrative with questionable experts, and misstating of facts
strongly misleads its readers.
Not only
have two innocent people been falsely portrayed and defamed but Hinduism/Sanatana
Dharma has been slandered. These two journalists who call themselves national
correspondents conducted victim shaming and whitewashed the actual perpetrators
Irene Kuo (now Joy Vottus) and Iphigenia Amoutsias as innocent. Their motive was to
label Sree Maa Shri Ji as cult leaders using so-called cult expert groups as
the weapon, which are nothing more than a Christian organisations intent on malicious
slander of belief systems different to their own.
Despite
it being a while since the article was published, it is important to hold these
journalists and media house accountable for their lack of ethics and for not upholding
even basic journalistic principles. Plainly, we can see that they used religion
as a drawcard to pull in readers, whilst employing cowboy journalism to
slander traditional belief systems of Sanatana Dharma in what can only be
called a trial by media.
